The"Train the Trainer Instructional Design Model"
I created the "Train the Trainer Instructional Design Model" as the final project for an Instructional Design course. The objective was to find a training challenge and create a new customized model based on existing methodologies.
The model I created was based on an opportunity to create a training program for personnel at my workplace. The personnel was experienced employees who had been asked to train new hires for the first time. The model provided a turn-key approach for instructional designers or managers to use to train the new trainers. The new model I created is based on the existing ADDIE and 3PD models.
Reflection:
As I reflect on this experience, I realize the value of creating a new instructional design model. First, to create something new based on the previous knowledge is a higher-order thinking skill from Blooms Taxonomy. I had to really understand how the Dick and Carey Instructional Design Model, ADDIE and 3PD were similar and different. Second, I gained confidence in using my instructional design skills because I was able to solve an authentic training problem.
