Technology Arifact:

Articulate Storyline Interactive Modules

I created this online course for a "Tools in Online Learning" course using Articulate Storyline.  For this project, I was challenged with creating a story with a lead character, a role, mission and branching sequences that take the learner on various pathways. Some positive, some negative with constructive consequences and feedback.

The audience for this learning object is science students who will be working in a laboratory. They must complete this learning module prior to their first day of class. The main goal is to teach the learner best practices to maintain a safe working environment in a laboratory setting.

I followed the Backward Design instructional design model to create this course. (Wiggins and McTighe, 2012). Next, I used Twine for action mapping (Twinery.org). Next, I used PowerPoint to create storyboards.

Finally I taught myself Articulate Storyline to create the course.

Heading 1

Reflection: This project proved to be the most valuable of all that I created during the Master of Education program at University of Cincinnati. It inspired me to learn more about Articulate Storyline over the next two years. Now I am an Instructional Designer using Articulate Storyline full time for my position in Learning & Development. In addition, this was my first attempt in creating eLearning, so there was a lot of room for improvement. I selected this technology artifact to be evaluated as a part of the final culminating project for the Masters' Degree.
